Common error

Treating displacement and distance as interchangeable — distance is scalar (path length) while displacement is vector (change in position), leading to incorrect sign or magnitude in multi-leg motion problems

Common error

Misreading kinematic graphs: confusing the slope of a position-time graph (velocity) with the slope of a velocity-time graph (acceleration), or treating area under an acceleration-time curve as velocity rather than change in velocity

Common error

Forgetting to decompose 2D projectile motion into independent horizontal and vertical components, then applying a single kinematic equation to the full trajectory

Common error

Applying kinematic equations to non-constant acceleration situations — these equations are only valid when acceleration is uniform
